The marvelous Hoysaleswara temple of Halebidu is NOT recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
While in comparison, modest structures & thatched huts in Africa were recognized by UNESCO
As Ramappa temple spent 30+ years in UNESCO waiting list, there is no immediate hope
On the other hand, Bhimbetka has been recognized as UNESCO world heritage site since 2003.
Has UNESCO validation changed anything? Has the UNESCO invested anything? Not really!
Has there been any increase of foreign tourists? There are hardly any foreign tourists to Bhimbetka.
Which is why I personally do not understand why we have to seek UNESCO validation for our thousand year old temples.
