Thread on origins of Dravidians:
Harvard research paper says Dravidians entered India from Balochistan/Iran around 1700 BCE.
They were from the Middle-east.
Tamils may have emigrated to and settled in south India from West Asia or East Mediterranean region more by sea than by land.

Also, they've mixed a great deal with pre-existing folks even before the Indo-aryans arrived. They later mixed with Indo-aryans as well.
I often see Tamil politicians, invoking "Dravidian stock" to somehow prove that Tamils genetically different from the rest of Indians, which is a propaganda ofcourse.
In modern terms, Dravidian is used to refer to language family. Lets be clear pure Dravidian stock doesn't exist
