“ आम्ही ऐकले की, बादशहा असमर्थ व असहाय आहे असे समजून हिंदूस्थानात बर्याच ठिकाणी बंडखोरांनी बंडाळी माजवली असून त्यांनी बरीच ठिकाणे ताब्यात घेतली आहेत व त्या राज्यातील लोकांना ते त्रास देत आहेत.

त्यापैकी मुख्य 'शिवा'(शिवाजी महाराज) नावाचा काफीर असून तो आजपर्यंत कोणाला माहिती नव्हता. बादशहाची पुष्कळ किल्ले त्याने ताब्यात घेतली. कित्त्येक बादशाही शिपाई त्याने मारले, मुलुख उजाड केला आणि आता तो बादशहाशी बरोबरीचे नाते सांगू पाहतो आहे (स्वतः बादशहा होऊ पाहतो आहे असा अर्थ).
याउलट बादशहा (औरंगजेब) मात्र बापाला कैदेत टाकणे म्हणजे जग जिंकणे असे मानतो व आपल्या भावांना गादीचे जे न्याय्य वारस आहेत त्यांना मारून जादूटोण्यात गढून राहिला आहे.बंडखोराला त्याच्या हातून शासन होणं अशक्य दिसत आहे..
आमच्या पूर्वजांनी ज्याप्रमाणे हुमायुनला गादी मिळवून देण्याच्या कामी मदत केली त्याप्रमाणे हुमायुनचा वंशज अडचणीत आहे असे पाहून (आम्ही) जातीने सैन्य घेऊन मदत करण्याचे ठरविले आहे ”.
