From a book published in 1874. It tells that the Dhair (described as outcast) was one of the village council. He was the protector of village boundaries, an authority regarding the sites of houses in village. For his services they were given rent free lands. (1/2)
It tells that although Dhairs were meanly clad, and looked poor, yet they were not infrequently well off and that their women, were not unfrequently gaily dressed, and wore gold and silver ornaments. (2/2)
