Hello everyone,
I am building digdeeper.one to organize insightful content (Tweets, articles and videos) related to Indian-listed companies & investing
Here is the back story of how it all started
The short story:
- Had a problem
- Couldn’t find a solution that suits my taste
- So, building a little app for myself using @bubble
The long story:
For an investor - the best resources to find valuable insights about a company/industry are company websites, annual reports, and con calls & we can find these resources *adequately organized* on almost every stock market app out there
In addition to these resources, one can find insightful company/industry related information on platforms like Twitter and YouTube*
*T&C apply
I often hear people saying:
“There is not much useful content out there on Twitter”
“Don’t waste your time on YouTube”
But IMHO,
If we follow right people on Twitter
If we subscribe to right channels on YouTube
We can learn a lot more than what we were taught in schools and that too for *free*
So, whnevr u find ur feed short of valuable insights
- take some time to clean up
- find the right people
- & leave the rest to the algos
Sometimes the algos screw up our feed but most of the time they do a fantastic job👌
Before proceeding further, a gentle reminder👇
Never make an investment decision based on a Tweet/thread/video. Consider these bits of info as
- an intro to a company/industry u are unaware of or
- as add'l inputs to ur thesis/anti-thesis
At the end, one has to dig deeper into company fundamentals to build their conviction
Back to using Twitter/YT or even News aggregators as a resource for company/industry related info
At first, I started using their default bookmark features to aggregate my fav picks but later on I found some shortcomings that's preventing me to make the best use of my picks
My main pain points are
1. Not enough features to organize my bookmarks (company/industry-wise, investing concepts, books) on each platform + that makes searching for a specific bookmark very time-consuming.
Sometimes I end up spending hrs in my bookmark yards just searching
2. As my bookmarks for a specific topic are spread across different platforms (Twitter, YT, News publishers/aggregators), I find switching btw them (to revisit my bookmarks for a specific topic) very time consuming
3. Most of these platforms hve features (Trending, YTShorts) that r designed to hook us onto their platforms for very long periods. If we r not disciplined enough, we would end up wasting tons of our valuable time.
A single visit to these spaces eats up hell lot of my time
Later shifted to Word docs and Notion(was very slow back then), created docs/pages for a few industries/companies but was not satisfied with the experience
Tried lots of apps but couldnt find any that fits my needs
So, gave up on finding a perfect app and started building one
I jotted down some key points before building the app
- Make my revisits (in search of bookmarks) to these platforms as minimal as possible
- All content formats under one pg, neatly organised as per company/industry/events like capacity/margin expansion, debt reduction etc
With some basic functionalities in mind, I started building the app using @bubble
Here is the Homepage with quick access to tweets, articles and videos that are tagged with relevant company/industry names
& a click on each tag will filter out the content relevant to that tag
With company tags, I filter out the content related to a company but if I want to visit any company page(Reliance) on the stock market apps I frequently use(Kite, @screener_in & @mystockedge)
I've 2 go 2 each app >>type company name in search box >>select the item from dropdown
It's a mundane process & we've to do it every time to visit a company pg on our most fav apps
So, to save some time here I've enabled quick access to these company pages on Dig Deeper. U can find them by clicking any company tag on DD
Sometimes clicks are better than typing😉
Access to Stock Market Apps through Dig Deeper
youtu.be
Collecting URLs for 1000s of companies across 3 apps is a one-time effort but still a time intensive process
So, I've automated it too. All I've 2 do is input any company name to my python code and it searches for company URLs across 3 apps + forwards them to the app database
Search Automation using Python
youtu.be
Bingo!
Access to stock market related content from across the platforms + access to stock market apps I frequently use - all at one place
That’s Dig Deeper - digdeeper.one
A simple app that serves my needs
Initially, I started this project just to solve my problem of organizing stock market related content but now I strongly feel that it would also be helpful to beginners in the markets both to discover content & people
Give it a try & kindly let me know ur suggestions
If u prefer to have quick access to company pgs in ur fav apps, do let me know I'll try to add them too
A lot more features & content are in the pipeline and will release them in coming weeks
First on priority
