The release of @GlobeScan's & @SustInsti #SustainabilityLeaders survey is always so fascinating to me and a massive gift to the #Susty community working with companies. A few (8!) reflections on the results. And to download: globescan.com
1/8: Water remains a core global challenge, tied to nature & climate.
Whether this survey or @wef's, these issues keep coming up. We need to tackle them in an integrated manner and ensure we remain vigilant on inequality at the same time.
2/8: NGOs remain key trust & relationship brokers.
We have a long term trend that NGOs have trust, and must use that to broker relationships in a world that is increasingly divided.
3/8 All NGOs must keep working to raise awareness of our efforts, especially in certain groups/regions.
While it is always rewarding to see @WWF recognized, this table shows how we need to continue to reach our to the "non-usual" suspects - as do our peers.
4/8 Strategy is finally being recognized as central to #susty, but we need to push companies and media beyond "commitments & targets".
This table is fascinating. Going beyond words and into products/services and value chains is CRITICAL. Companies ought to heed academics & NGOs.
5/8 Asia, Africa & the Middle East represent massive opportunities for sustainability leading companies.
There are few outstanding leaders in those regions, leaving the door open for a champion like #Unilever #Patagonia or #Natura
6/8 Water keeps getting downplayed.
Despite being in position #3 and #5 (see 1/N above), it gets omitted far too often - e.g. see below. @cdjcoulter - please fix this next time round? 🙏
7/8 A huge thanks to all of those who made this possible. Experts, staff at GlobeScan (Eric, Tove, etc!), ERM (Mark, etc.), and everyone else. This remains a massively valuable annual piece of work and I'm very grateful for it every year. Thanks!
8/8 Let's scale!
So much work to be done, but let's think about new models of collaboration, new models of financing, and new ways to track IMPACT. We're late in the day to affect the future of our planet. Sleeves up everyone!
