I bet you all saw one of the following sayings on the internet
"Instead of watching Netflix for 1 hour, you could work."
"Instead of playing games, you could learn something new."
I saw it and I keep seeing it very often. Unfortunately.
Seeing the above statements constantly, I started to feel guilty every time I was relaxing.
When I was not working, I always felt lazy and guilty for not working.
Eventually, I transformed my life into an obsession for work. I put everything in 2nd place and worked non-stop.
As you might guess, you cannot do that for too long without paying for it.
After a while, I started to feel dreadful physically and mentally.
I was also a nuisance to other people. I was always angry, frustrated and rude.
My health and relationships deteriorated. Fast.
That's when I hit the brake pedal. That's not a life I want to live.
Now, I work a healthy amount of time and then stop. No overworking.
I also don't prioritize work over my hobbies or going out with people.
My work comes in 2nd place now. I work to live, not live to work.
If I want to watch 5 hours of Netflix from time to time, that's exactly what I'll do.
If I want to hang out with friends for a whole day, that's what I'll do.
The point is that I do things that charge me now. I don't avoid them anymore or replace them with more work.
Learn to prioritize your physical and mental well-being.
It's not worth losing them and relationships because of work.
Life's more than work! 👍
