Very specific help is needed! Am reading up about pronunciation of व and ब in Indian languages and I find references to the phrase 'vabayor abheda iti' (va and ba are interchangeable)
Does someone who has expertise in Sanskrit literature help me find where this phrase was used?
Acc to mdpi.com, Telugu scholar Somanatha explained the etymology of Basava from Vrishabha using these lines:
vrkarasya bakaradeso bhavati,
vabayor abheda iti;
pavargatrtıyaksaramu bakaramu pakarambuvalanam
But this seems to be quoted from somewhere
I suspect the phrase might be used in Panini's Soothrams in the Ashtadhyayi here: archive.org but I cannot search for the phrase directly
@avtansa Curious if you have discussed why व went extinct in Magadhi Prakrit and even eastern dialects of Hindi? Is this something that has been researched about or can we make a guess?
