Everybody is aware of the Third Battle of Panipat.
Has anyone heard about the Third Battle of Tarain (24th December 1759 CE) fought between Maratha-Mughal Army and the Durrani Afghan Army?
5,000 Marathas with 1,000 traitor Mughals attacked 20,000 Afghans under Shah Pasand Khan.
Shah Pasand Khan's 20,000 Durranis were supported by uncountable auxiliary Jihadis.
His terror made all the coward Mughal troops flee away, leaving the Marathas outnumbered who were gunned down by Afghan flintlocks.
This was the first clear defeat of Marathas against Afghans.
This Battle was an EXACT prototype of how 3rd Battle of Panipat played out:
1) Marathas charged in and routed the entrenchments of the enemy.
2) The Afghan gunners then sniped out the Maratha Sardars.
3) Durrani cavalry flanked the disordered Maratha army & finished the battle.
Same goes for Battle of Murari Ghat fought by the great Maratha warrior Sardar Dattajirao Shinde Patil, where Rohilla snipers gunned him in the same treacherous way they also later gunned down Jat Raja Surajmal, who was the Pagdi-Brother of Dattaji's brother Jayappajirao Shinde!
