If we believe in Karma and also believe that the Karmas of our ancestors have an effect of causation of certain events in our lives, then I don't understand how it's difficult to understand caste and endogamy.
We're all born with unique predispositions due to what our ancestors did in terms of worldly Karmas or Spirtual Karmas. To the former, nobody objects because you can see/feel the wealth etc that's left behind for you. Why should you disbelieve in the latter?
It's very clear. One gets attributed to a caste in two phases. The birth alone is not a qualifier. The birth ensures that a person is born with certain Gunas that make them qualified to practice their predefined Karmas. If they don't do those Karmas, they will lose their Varna ++
That is why Krishna clearly says it is Chaturvarnyam Maya Srishtam Guna-Karma "Vibhagashaha".

Unfortunately, I am not naive. I know if I apply these rules to myself, I am already Avarna since I do not do เคทเคเฅเคเคฐเฅเคฎ prescribed for the Bramhin. But facts are facts despite me being what I am.
If I don't acknowledge this, my caste is limited to an attribute of my identity as a person which I vehemently oppose. Identity politics is the bane of all societies.
