1/ Background: So why is there so much buzz around #Metaverse right now...Well this hype started in Sep 2021 when #FB announced an investment of $50m to develop their Metaverse

But the reality is that the #Metaverse has been there for a long time and many companies have invested billions of dollars in it already

3/ History: Term #Metaverse was coined by Neal Stephenson in his '92 novel "Snow Crash" which is a popular book in Silicon Valley (#FB ensures that their leaders read this book)

4/ In its very simplistic form, we can say that we saw in "Matrix" was a version of the Metaverse , where people were in the virtual world while their bodies were plugged into VR equipment getting harvested for electricity (Well let's hope that doesn't happen :D)
5/ The first real flavor of the metaverse was seen in the game "Second Life" in early 2000's where you could create digital avatars that could interact with others virtually with it's own economy, the game was a success but suffered due to lack of adequate tech at that time
6/ So far it sounds very dystopian but the reality is that there are so many real world applications of the #metaverse especially in the post-covid world that most tech companies and running after this with all their money

10/ So what exactly is the Metaverse:

11/ Essentially it is a digital space which you explore with other people virtually. You’ll be able to hang out with friends, work, play, date, shop, create and more. Instead of being on a computer, in the #Metaverse you might use a VR headset to enter a virtual world
12/ However unlike current VR, which is mostly used for gaming, this virtual world could be used for practically anything - work, play, concerts, cinema trips - or just hanging out with your friends (Real or Virtual)
13/ Correlation with #NFT's: Many feel that the NFT hype right now is a bubble which is waiting to burst, however those people fail to see the correlation of the "#Metaverse" with "#NFT's"
14/ Considering that the digital avatars will be an important factor in you moving through the different spaces of the virtual world, everything from your character to your clothes, to your gadgets in the digital worlds could be customized and bought / sold as #NFT's
16/ Use cases: Even though there are so many ideas about what the #Metaverse might be, most visions see social human interaction as the core principle of the metaverse
17/ Imagine, being in an office doing whiteboarding with others in a room full of avatars while being in home through FB's Horizon Workplace or NVIDIA's Omniverse. Or going on a date to watch a Marvel movie that realized in reality to see in the metaverse, all paid for in crypto
18/ #FB for eg: has been experimenting with a VR meetings app called Workplace and a social space called Horizons, both of which use their virtual avatar systems. Or buying a land in the metaverse and building a café on it and getting real income every time anyone uses it
19/ Or how about going to the Amazon Mall, doing grocery or clothes shopping with your avatar and the stuff lands up at your house in reality, the potential integration of #ecommerce #virtualreality #socialmedia #gaming will be incredible
20/ Tokenization: As in the real world, the #Metaverse will need a currency or currencies to enable its virtual economy. There is possibility that FB's #diem #cryptocurrency might be the currency of their metaverse.
21/ But the way we have different countries with different currencies, different #cryptocurrencies will coexist and be interoperable as you move from one virtual space to another in the metaverse
22/ Recent events in #Metaverse
1.) #Fortnite did a virtual concert with #travisscott and @ArianaGrande with millions of people, in game (Ariana was paid 20m USD for it)
2.) Virtual lands in @sandbox and @decentraland have sold for huge amounts! @SnoopDogg bought it too!

22/ This makes this space a very attractive investment space for the upcoming years and there are lot of amazing projects with huge potential....below is the top 10 projects currently live (Look at that YTD growth) that's some serious gains!!!
