Some of the most effective attacks against you will come from within your own.
It will not be your enemy that strikes, but your own friend, someone from within your own ranks or even your own family.
Neglect this reality and you will be crippled by a most heinous betrayal.

For while the enemy can and will attack you, this you both expect and prepare for, but what of the attacks from within?
The attacks from within can in fact be much more potent. They know exactly where to strike and have information you entrusted and now, armed them with.

It is for precisely this reason that your trust must be given scarcely and be among the things you guard the most.
You must filter constantly and always continuously re-evaluate if they can be trusted.

If you opt to allow the dishonorable, traitorous, selfish and degenerate to sit at your table, then you may as well just open the gates to your city to the enemy.
Betrayal knows fewer boundaries than one might expect.

I do not say this lightly and if you ever find yourself in a position of power, this is not a matter of merely just having your feelings hurt or handling a setback.
This can be a matter of life and death and you should treat it as such.
