Reaching your goals in life will become easier when you can catch the cycles of the business:
//thread//
If you can operate with calm & collected consistency through each cycle, you will not only meet your “successful point” sooner, but you will be happier along the way.
Being aware of the cycles puts you in a spot where nothing can surprise you.
The win’s are inevitable, the failures are acceptable, what matters most is: are you continuously progressing?
Before we explain the cycles, I want you to understand the difference between cycles and states.
Cycles can last months, weeks, or days.
They are periods in our life where a series of events falls under a single theme. These cycles are inevitable in all our business journeys.
States are how we feel during the cycle.
If forecasted correctly, you can switch states within cycles to help you move past that cycle quicker.
Here are the states we can be operating at
1. A motivated state - mostly driven by FOMO (fear of missing out). You are operating in terms of energy bursts.
You feel a euphoric high, like you can conquer the world but the moment one barrier comes across your path, you crumble - AVOID THIS CYCLE. Do not operate here
2. Gratitude state - A state of pure joy and trust.
In Arabic, we call this “Tawaqal” which means divine trust in God’s plan - no matter what L’s you take, you know you will be solution-focused enough to move past them. This is a great state to operate in
3. Determined, relentless state - Fuelled by an emotion.
Using a sole raw emotion to help you reach your goal is unhealthy - you being reliant on that trait, you feel like there is purpose on the journey but once the North Star is met, the meaning behind it all is gone.
This state is ok to operate at.
4. Desperation state - This is the weakest state to operate at. Desperation breeds disappointments.
People won’t do business with you, you will hate yourself for every single L you take.
You might think “yes, but wouldn’t desperation make me find a solution”, this is false, you are thinking about a state of fight or flight.
Desperation is a flight state, you are attempting to fight but in reality you are just finding reasons to run away.
Those states from above will be pivotal when understand the cycles of business.
They allows us to see what we are operating at in each cycle and what state we should pivot towards during that cycle to help us progress quicker.
The cycles of business:
1. Accumulated L’s - A period in your life where you have seen more L’s than Wins.
Accumulating together it takes a toll on your mental health - here you begin to question yourself, develop imposter syndrome, and think in terms of “Why me”.
Signs that you are falling into this state include using phrases like “I am stressed”.
Quick solution here is to understand the meaning of each of those L’s and notice how they will be a catalyst momentum for your next wins. You can also switch into a state of gratitude here.
2. Heavy hits - Planning something big and it goes south.
A massive loss is great for every man’s character. Instead of reacting in moments like these, take a step back to zoom out, go move into a state of gratitude and meditate away from your work station.
Staying in the trenches during this cycle is futile. You can also use this as fuel to get into a state of determination + relentless force.
3. Momentous flow - A cycle of hyper-focus.
You feel unstoppable, but unlike motivation, even if an L occurs, you are able to bounce back quickly.
For most beginners this state is short lived because they fall back into the other cycles. Why? Because they aren’t able to accept that L’s are inevitable in their path.
The more L’s you take, the more accustomed you are which lets this cycle last longer. This is where you want to be operating at.
It is a state comprised of knowing where you want to go, accepting that failures may occur, being determined towards a vision, understanding how you learn + operate, and gratitude.
4. Patience periods - “That's the best part, it's cooking in the oven, let it be, it'll come out perfect “ - My mother.
Everything that you could have done has been complete. No matter the challenge, you knew you can overcome it.
You stayed in the cycle of momentous flow with a gratitude state, all that is left now is to wait. During these periods your best next steps are to plan your next phase and accumulate more knowledge/
At your peaks, you will be bouncing between momentous flow and patience periods. The patience periods gap wears thin as you scale your operations.
Notice a pattern in the cycles? The majority of them are negative.
80% of your business success comes down to stress management if you become aware of which cycle you are in from above, you will be able to choose where you want most of your time to be operating at.
I will be posting threads like this almost daily - I realized I have a lot to say and a 280 character limit isn’t enough.
P.S One of the best ways to operate in gratitude in a cycle of momentous flow is through being confident in your knowledge and knowing where you want to go with your business
