“People’s capitalism” — US-produced poster from ca. 1957 distributed in Guatemala advertising a pro-capitalist exhibition.
The poster was produced and issued by the United States Information Agency, which operated across the world producing anti-communist propaganda.
The poster was published not long after the US-orchestrated coup against President Jacobo Árbenz in 1954. Upon Árbenz's overthrow, the US embarked on a sizeable anti-communist propaganda campaign.
Interestingly, "people’s capitalism" was an Eisenhower-endorsed propaganda slogan that appeared frequently in USIA material. Even Pravda commented on its proliferation in a 1956 editorial:
