Im very happy to see someone finally do a thread on giant trees, especially from an ecological perspective. This is the perfect opportunity to piggyback a picture thread of Mountain treestumps from around the world that i've been accumulating! Start with my favourite: Venezuela
Devil's Tower:
Devil's Tower close up, observe the hexagonal structure:
Because of course molten lava sets to form perfectly hexagonal shapes like this...
Can you imagine...
Some African Mesas. If we take the "girth of the trunk to height of tree ratio" (DBH/H) which ive inconveniently forgotten now, but I think its something like 1/16, then tabletop mountain in Cape Town would have grown something like 16kms into the sky!
Some other interesting potential Silicon trees:
And of course, there is this utterly retarded structure in Australia blamed on "muh erosion"
Thank you for this whistlestop tour of our realm's bountiful and mysterious giant silicon trees! May you never relinquish your wonder and awe in the marvellous world around you.
