I made $6K from freelance writing this month.
Last November I made around $1K.
A lil' thread on the BEST freelance writing resources that helped me go from $1K to $6K in a year.
1. The Writer's Co-Op Podcast
@TWC_pod is a wonderful, high-signal podcast.
It taught me:
• Money mindset
• How to take off work
• The subtle art of saying no
2. The AdWeek Copywriting Handbook
Legendary copywriter Joe Sugarman gives you step-by-step frameworks for writing great copy.
I learned how to:
• Create a "slippery slide" for copy
• Craft a "buying environment" for the reader
3. The Boron Letters
Copywriter Gary Halbert delves into insider tactics on how to write words that entice and sell.
A must if you're learning to write copy.
4. Opportunities of the Week
A weekly newsletter by @weischoice that compiles all the writing opportunities out there.
It's how I got my first gig ever at The Daily Beast!
5. @theevagutierrez - CAS
The Client Acquisition System (CAS) was my first coaching program.
It taught me how to write stellar cold pitches and changed my mindset on freelancing.
It's how I landed my first retainer client at $250 an article with 0 experience.
6. Ship 30 for 30 by @dickiebush
Took last January and it was a wild experience.
• Expanded portfolio
• Discovered what I enjoyed writing about
• Grew by 3k + followers (which led to job opportunities)

7. Write of Passage by @david_perell
Enrolled in March 2021.
It's how I:
• Launched my website
• Created my newsletter
• Wrote some of my best articles
8. 'Art For Money' by Michael Ardelean
I LOVED this book. It helped me land my first $7K + month in July by teaching me:
• How to value my time
• How to write project proposals
• Why freelancers are cheaper to hire (thus why you should charge $$$)
9. Freelance to Fortune by @jessypwrites
Jessica writes a wonderful newsletter & blog documenting her journey to her first 10K from freelancing.
Her deep dives on outsourcing and finding clients on LinkedIn are gold.
10. Coaching with @jenni_gritters
Jenni has been incredibly helpful when it comes to navigating the confusion of freelancing. We've touched on:
• Money blocks
• Scarcity mindset
• How to raise rates
• Marketing strategies

But no matter how many courses you buy...
Or books you read...
Or threads you save... (👀)
It's worth nothing if you don't take consistent, daily action.
So, show up for yourself. Learn. Be okay with failure. And have fun!
Freelance writing is an amazing career.
