Mandvi Stone Inscription of Maharaja Damaji Gaikwad ๐ Maharaja Damajirao was said to be equal to Kubera in riches, Arjuna as a warrior, Brihaspati in speech, Sagara in fortitude, Kalpataru in charity, Indra in domination, Yuddhisthir in veracity & Duryodhana in self-respect.
Sena-Khas-Khel Maharaja Damasimharaje Gaikvada is then said to be a King like Nala and others who removed the acute poverty of the people of Gujarat. His fame was boundless like Bhoja. The poor Brahmanas who composed the inscription gave him a special tribute towards the end.
"The Lord of Men Damasimha Gaikvada gave orders to his servant, who is a jewel among men named Malhฤr, to repair Mandapas for the people as a protection from the Sun's heat. May He & His Kutumba (Gaikwads) continue over a hundred years & always bless the land with their rule."
The Inscription states that Crowns of the Kings of all lands that challenge Him fall at the Lotus-Like feet of Maratha Senakhaskhel Maharaja Damajirao Gaikwad. It further covers the terror of His name that caused His enemies to drop all their weaponry and flee to the mountains.
Dabhoi Stone Inscription of Maharaja Damajirao Gaikwad of Baroda ๐ Pratap Samsher Bahadur Maharaj Damasimha Gaikvฤda, son of Maharaja Pilajirao Gaikvฤda, professes his devotion to Mฤ Kฤli. The inscription speaks of the bravery of Gaikwad Maratha dynasty, Liberators of Gujarat.
Gurjaradesha Mahimandali | Damasimha jฤna pratฤpi-bali | Sindhu maryada-chฤngali | TRANSLATION (Line 30-31) โ "In the Great Land of Gujarat, Damasimha is renowned as glorious and mighty, and an ocean of Maryada (honour) and benevolence."
The inscription expresses gratitude to Kubera and Someshwara (Shiva) for keeping the Gaikwad State treasury abundant. The various provinces of Gujarat under Maratha Gaikwads: Hallara, Saurฤshtra, Dฤnta, Kutch, Anahilavada, and Patan.
Earliest Description of Vadodara under Maratha Rule in Induduta of Vinayavijaya ๐ Original name of Vadodara/Baroda was Vatapadra. #Baroda city under #Marathas was compared in glory to Shri Lanka (City of Vaishravana), Vasavokasara (City of Indra) & Bhogavati (City of Varuna).
