15 KDP Mistakes to Avoid:
🚨🚨🚨🚨
//Thread//
Not looking for niches in ALL 3 main fields (evergreen, seasonal, trends) and publishing in those.
Not using categories correctly or at all. Most people only use 2 categories per book. You can contact KDP to add 8 more.
Not using all 7 keyword slots when creating a listing or using it wrong and keyword stuffing it or repeating keywords too many times.
Using bad / low-quality cover art. Premium cover design and art will really help with the book and can give it a lot more perceived value, which can also help with having a higher price potentially.
Never use brand names / items for your books title or design. Never use trademark or copyright items. Always check databases
Spamming a niche with too many of the same books with hardly any changes to title or cover. (especially without prior sales history)
Not reinvesting or investing more in your KDP business. Better design tools, designers, virtual assistants, courses, training, better / faster internet & computers.
Spamming your book on websites and social media. I have seen lots of people spam their books on Facebook and other platforms. Spamming your book all over the place is a waste of time.
Getting fake reviews (unverified). Many β€œgurus” do this or recommend this. This is at best gray hat, if not black hat. Stay away from it. It is not needed to succeed. I don’t use any book review websites.
Not double checking your book and listing and final checking it before publishing it live. Mistakes will be made that can be spotted and avoided.
Not being consistent. Some people spend a lot of time at the beginning, don't see results and slow down or quit. You have to keep going. Keep learning, look for mistakes, learn more from them, ask questions in groups, watch YouTube, take a course, ask a friend.
Making a great book and spending a lot of time on it, and then making a below average cover and title. The cover and title is what will sell the book more than the interior itself at the beginning. The interior will determine the reviews, which will then affect the sales.
Not doing enough niche / keyword research, and jumping into a niche too fast.
Not finding and using the right price for your book. Also don’t go too low.
Not checking for grammar and spelling mistakes for title, description, book interior. That will kill the sale of your book and affect reviews badly.
