1. Law came to existence because during that period people used to accept Islam in front of the prophet Muhammad ﷺ and pretended to be Muslims and acted like spies, behind the back they used to support enemies
2. Apostasy law in Islam is that it can be implemented only under a islamic government ruled by the sharia . And if a person who lives outside the sharia law or lives in a muslim majority secular country then it is not to be implemented on them.
If there is no Islamic government then random Muslims cannot gang up on apostates and act like vigilantes or kill them. Muslims dont have the right to do this. And this is a big misconception about Islam
3. Contextually it is important to note that similar to how the western countries have a constitutional creed, we in Islamic Countries too have a ‘constitutional’ creed. Our “constitution” is the Quran & it’s explanations from our prophet - called the Sunnah
4. As such, just as High Treason is constitutionally punishable by death in most western countries. Such as 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - for Treason & Bill C-84 in Canada etc

6. In the first case the apostate is not be put to death until he has been asked to repent three times. Especially if the apostasy is based in matter the person guilty of apostasy is in doubt about. As most doubts go — they cannot be dispelled instantaneously.
7. A person is to be educated & counseled & then allowed rethink the matter, for a minimum of three days. Especially if the said apostate is NOT sowing sedition within the country
