a figure that is not even close to the popularly mentioned figure of 3 million.
Similarly Sarmila Bose (Bengali Indian writer) in her book "Dead Reckoning in 2011"-"3 million appears to be not more than a gigantic rumor". She gave a figure close to the figure given by -3/15

the commission but that also includes Biharis & Pakistanis. The idea is not meant to undermine the killing but to highlight the fact that 3million is even logically impossible, which was initially given by the Soviet Union Pravda newspaper. -3/15

Professor Rudolph Rummel estimates that 150,000 Biharis were massacred by the vengeful victors of Mukti Bahini in a brutal bloodletting in 1971.

Sarmila Bose in her book gave a figure of 25,000, the remaining 65,000 were civil servants and civilians from West Pak including women & Children.

There were three divisions of the Pakistan Army, with a total number of around 34,000 troops and 11,000 from other forces including the Police, up against over 150,000 troops/forces in different formations encircling East Pakistan, with a ratio of 5:1. -9/15
The figure of 93K also does not appear to be logical considering Pakistan's's "Two Front Strategy", where the forces were kept intact to West Pakistan to engage the Indian forces in West Pakistan in case of Invasion of East Pakistan. -10/15

Yes, we should have empathy for the thousands of Bengalis & Biharis killed but Societies grow when they work on the present to build a future. Otherwise, living in history won't help both countries especially when both are facing threats from Indian domination.-13/15

Later on, Mujib himself came to Pakistan during the OIC summit but now years down the lane, due to interference from outside, Some parties are trying to derail the relations between the two countries. It's time that the youth of both countries move forward -14
and work for healthy relations, as both countries have the potential to grow ties in many sectors. But this mission to reopen the closed chapter is only in interests of spoilers & their pawns. -15/15
