Strength.
In this day and age where being weak is the norm and being tough is 'toxic'.
What does it mean to be strong?
Do you have what it takes?
-- THREAD --
Before we begin,
Please like and RT this so that we can get more eyes on what I write.
I'm getting back to writing threads after a few weeks away.
Any RTs will help get the engine running.
Let us get started.
As any man who has lived through the storm knows,
Sometimes life just isnt easy.
Very often you see people from all walks of life succumb to their torments.
They find themselves in less than ideal situations,
Failing to find the strength to fight.
Burning away.
This could very easily happen to you.
Maybe it already has happened.
In your head you live through various scenarios fantasizing about how you would be victorious.
However in reality,
You crumble under the intensity of the opposing force.
You just fall short on what is necessary to fight through the ordeal.
You Just cannot muster the strength to do so.
You do not have the fuel that powers resistance.
Strength.
So what is this strength that carries you through the storm?
Is it physical?
Does being muscular, jacked to the gills mean you are strong?
Yes and no.
Physical strength is a component of it, it is very important.
But it is not the whole.
A frail looking mother working two jobs trying to feed her child, dealing with an absent father is strong.
An old man caring for his bed ridden wife on the doors of death is strong.
A teenage orphan, raising her siblings picking rags in a junkyard is strong
So what does it mean to be strong?
Is it the absence of weakness?
The absence of fear perhaps?
Neither.
Let me tell you this,
You are very wrong if you believe that strength is the opposite or absence of weakness.
Strength is instead the recognition, acceptance, and actions taken even when you feel timid, weak and small.
Strength is SEEN as being physically muscular, capable,
Fighting a good fight, being emotionally tough.
All these are parts of strength
They are not its essence.
The essence however,
Comes from reaching deep into your place of vitality and perseverance and drawing from it courage that helps you take a stand against the events that befall you.
It is the bridge between the chaos that threatens to engulf you and how you meet it.
Strength isn't something that is found overnight.
Strength isn't something fleeting that comes and goes.
True strength is lasting.
It elevates you in times of need.
It guides you like a light in the void.
It protects you like it's your golden armor.
Strength is nurtured, not bought or learnt.
This takes time, experiences, facing cold truths and wounds.
This is why strength is a product of experiences.
Cold, painful, raw experiences
That feel like they do more harm than good at the moment.
The kind which you sometimes wish you could permanently erase from your mind.
Yet, without those dreadful experiences there is an absence of growth.
You are in emptiness and the understanding of what it means to have strength is forever lost on you.
Did I mention strength comes from experiences?
Well not just any experience, it comes from those kind of experiences that test a man’s mettle.
Ones that hurt, teach or both.
That requires one to shed his old skin of boyhood and innocence to wear on a coat of maturity.
Experiences that few in this modern lifestyle of cheetos and Netflix really go through.
Experiences of suffering.
How?
you may ask.
Strength comes from accepting, knowing and living through suffering and learning to rise above it.
Being kicked down, bruised and torn, but still rising back to your feet to give it another go.
Believing in yourself so passionately,
so fiercely that all thoughts of giving up or succumbing to hardship is no more than a jesters remark.
So is that how one gains strength? Through experiences?
Not quite.
Just experiencing things isn’t quite enough.
What you really need to be strong,
Is to persevere through what you experience.
Strength is in persevering.
Being relentless.
Strength is about being a fighter.
You fight through pain, you fight through animosity, you fight through rejection.
You fight against anything that wants to humble you .
It’s about continuing to fight even though you know you’re losing the battle.
It’s about losing, but then being reborn, looking to go at it again.
Strength is knowing you have a firm hold over how your life turns out.
Refusing to let chance dictate what happens to you.
Refusing to give up without a bloody battle.
THIS is what it means to be STRONG.
How do we get there?
How do you go from being thin skinned and weak spined to courageous?
If I get enough RTs on this thread, I will write about it next.
