@bneeditor Ben, sorry, but the comparison strains credulity. There’s plenty of room for not liking policy here, but Iraq was invaded by the US. There’s simply no scenario in which the US - or anyone but Russia - starts this war, or even fights in it.
@bneeditor Moreover, your line of reasoning suggests that if war happens, it will be one of the West’s choosing, not Russia’s. As if Moscow is incapable of - and thus not responsible for - making its own decisions.
@bneeditor And the idea that Germany has a better relationship with Russia only holds water if Germany is ever actually able to use that relationship for leverage. I’m struggling to come up with genuine evidence of reciprocity.
@bneeditor In fact, the message I hear most often from Berlin is one of frustration, at the fact that Moscow gives them nothing in return for all the political (and other) capital they’ve invested. They get lied to by the Kremlin just like everyone else.
