Female in Vedic era:
All left-liberals like Audrey didi & Romila dadi have a common claim- Vedic era was so patriarchal, women have no right in that era.Are they really right?
Then who were Gargi,Maitreyi,Ghosha along with 27 women who compiled
many hymns only in Rigveda?Who were they?
They were "Rishika"(women sage) in that era.
Even Saraswati devi is called Vedmata(the mother of Vedas). Then how can it was so patriarchal?
Some of our well-known Rishika:
1.Gargi Vachaknavi: she was daughter of rishi "Vachaknu" in the
Clan of rishi "Garg". She became highly knowledgeable in the Vedas & Upanishads. She even surpassed men in her knowledge. She also attended many intellectual debates in her time. For her knowledge of Vedas & Brahmavidya, she was known as "Brahmavadini".She could very well contest
with other Rishi.According to "Brihadaranyaka Upanishad", king Janaka held a "Rajsuya yagna" & invited all the sages. He wanted to select a scholar from the gathering. But there was renowned sage "Yajnavalkya" & no one want to debate with him.But 8 renowned sages including one
Rishika Gargi challenged him. However 7 well-known sages lost that debate ;Gargi lasted a long time & won that debate.Gargi was honoured as one of the "Navaratna" in the royal court of Janaka. She also compiled many hymns in Rigveda that questioned about the Origin of existence.
2.Maitreyi: One of the most educated Rishika at that time. She believed in "Advaita-vaad" She was the one sage who explained "Advaitavaad" to king Janak. She wasa a minister in the Janak's royal court. She was also known as "Brahmavadini" for her Brahmavidys.
P:Agastya & lopamudra
3.Lopamudra: was an Brahmavadini & vedic rishika, wife of rishi Agastya. She visualized the "Hadi Panchadasi" mantra of the srikul sakta.According to Vana-parba(Mahabharat) Agastya did his penance at haridwar with the help of Lopamudra.
There wera many rishika like Ghosha,Apala
Indrani,Bishwabara etc who compiled hymns in Vedas.
There are many feminist who says women aren't equal in Hinduism because of Brahmin.
The image👇 is of a statue of "Sembiyan Mahadevi,a chola queen from 10th century. The image clearly shows that she is wearing an "Yajna-upabita"
The first image is of a Saraswati bigraha from Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple built in early 11th century, clearly shows that devi is also wearing an "Yajna-upabita" (holy threads)
Even in bengal, yajna-upabitas are offered to devi Durga,Laxmi,Saraswati during puja time
If women have right to wear yajna-upabita as well as Brahmin men, then why our feminist didi always use the word "Brahminical patriarchy"????
