Endearing Maratha titles like:
Babasaheb
Dadasaheb
Appasaheb
Bhausaheb
Bapusaheb
Tatyasaheb
Once meant a big deal. It showed a person was not merely of political stature but also Beloved.
Babasaheb which means "Master Father" was once title of Senasahebsubah Raghuji the Great.
Bapusaheb means "Master Father"
Appasaheb also means "Master Father"
Tatyasaheb also means "Master Father"
Dadasaheb means "(Elderly) Master Brother"
All these were applied to Maratha Lords depending on temperament.
No other community on Earth has such soft, tender titles.
Marathi word for brethren, "Bhau", is actually an alternate pronunciation of Bho, an address of reverence among Savarnas. Bhausaheb basically means "Master Brother" in a more egalitarian sense.
Now Bapu means Gandhi & Babasaheb means Ambedkar.
This is how identities slip away.
Some Afghan-bootlicker Desh-Drohi leftists were crying about how the "respected" Ahmad Shah "Baba" was "demonized" in insipid Panipat (2019) movie.
EVERY random Maratha Lord was addressed as Babasaheb, Bapusaheb, Appasaheb, Tatyasaheb, etc.
There's NOTHING special about Abdali.
Marathas as a community were aristocrats of the highest dignity ruling since antediluvian antiquity, & yet were treated by their inferiors in familial style with love.
It is no wonder that even Europeans noted how simple it was for someone to approach any Maratha Lord for help.
