2 years ago, I refunded my first client $1000 because I couldn't get him the results I promised
I was scared & had no confidence
$7,000,000 in sales & 800k followers later, here's my story:

Backstory:
I grew up in a comfortable environment.
Dad had his own business, mum a government job.
From a young age, my path was set:
- Go to school
- Get a masters degree
- Get a good job
- Climb the ladder

But I had other plans...
I fell in love with sports, but absolutely sucked at it.
Being told I was bad sparked a fire within me.
And I became obsessed (a trait that would become recurring)

Whether it was soccer & later tennis, I had little talent.
But I had a sickening work ethic.
I got a scholarship to play D1 Tennis in California, which was a dream of mine.

Going to America was the best thing I did in my life.
I left my home town where everyone went the same route.
And I became exposed to the “American Dream” mindset.
College for me was the best time ever.

I pursued my dreams to play tennis professionally.
While I failed at that, I got into self-development & taught me how to think and act like a champion.
(We won our program’s 1st mountain west Championship my biggest accomplishment to date)

I discovered an Instagram page posting content around making money from social media.
I was hooked.
I learned people were growing an audience on Instagram & making money from it.
I saw an opportunity & got started..

Within 2-3 weeks, I learned that I SUCKED at it.
I didn’t care. I was in it for the long-run.
Another time where being HORRIBLE at something made me want to pursue it even more.

For the next 12 months, I spent all my free time growing the account.
I got 2-3 accounts to 10k-20k, but no significant success.
And then I graduated.

After graduation I had NO DIRECTION, so I took an offer to become an assistant coach & do my MBA in Silicon Valley.
I thought: “No better place to start a business, right?”
YIKES..
I learned the hard way.

I pitched 100+ restaurants to run FB Ads for them, while still trying to grow my Instagram Accounts.
Eventually, I got a client for $1,000 but refunded him bc I had no clue how to run ads (lol).

I got stuck in a miserable cycle:
- Teaching tennis 10h/day
- Doing 2h/day of admin work
- 3h/day of school
- 3h/day growing my pages
Then, the lockdown came & saved me…

I 100% committed to growing my pages.

One day, I spoke to an entrepreneur who told me how hard it was to grow on IG.
I knew an agency who made a killing doing exactly that.
I felt I could do the same bc I had *skills” & experience (I was wrong)

Within 2 weeks, I found my first client which paid me $1,000.
Month 1 they did $8k in sales, but I was blatantly copying the other agency.
And they called me out (rightfully so).
I realized my skills weren't good enough.
In August, a casual chat with my now business partner caused a major epiphany...

Our skills complemented and we had similar goals
That day, Social Profit Media was born.
It took us till October 2020 & 300+ DMs to get our first 2 clients.
Once we had our foot in the door, we kicked that b*tch wide open.

First month we made a 5x & 8.5x ROAS.
Big part of our pricing? PERFORMANCE FEES.
January 2021 I returned to school, and we had 6 clients.
That month, our best client made $100k in sales off of $4k in spend.

The coming 6 months I slept 4-5h/day to juggle the agency, school, and work as a college tennis coach.
I never considered quitting bc
1. I enjoyed coaching tennis
2. Why not get an MBA (lol)
In those 6 months, we made over $2M in client sales & grew roughly 200k followers.

Before graduation, we were at $40k/month with 90% profit.
One day, a friend introduced me to a recruiter from a global drink brand.
Within 2 conversations they offered me a job as brand manager.
6-Figure salary + Work visa in the states.
Crazy opportunity right?

I declined without hesitation, because the vision was clear.
Scale the agency. Go all in.
My Mum was shocked, but had to accept it.
That decision spurred me to go 10x harder.
October 2021, 12 months after starting, we had our first $100k month with 80% margins.
