Rhetorics aside. Lets talk about the claims of Jawahar Singh's "achievements". So Jawahar Singh attacked delhi in the end of 1764. First of all there was no emperor in delhi for years. Shah Alam II, the mughal emperor for fear of his life was in Awadh and beyond
for years. Delhi was solely under Rohilla Sardar Najib Khan since panipat battle (1761). So Surajmal attacks delhi and took help of Malhar rao holkar, mercenary sikh soldiers, and many Naga soldiers. The campaign took a couple of months, but Jawahar even the help
of all these people could not take the rohilla stronghold (not mughal but rohillas were ruler of delhi at that time). So he never touched a single gate of delhi, and by the way there was no gate taken to delhi by mughals from rajputana in the first place. Jawahar singh
spent lakhs and lakhs of rupees and achieved zero result. His own nobles were double dealing with rohillas. Malhar rao holkar who was on Jawahar's side was actually never wanted to see his adopted son Najib khan being defeated so he was himself double dealing with rohillas
to let Jawahar fail in his campaign. Also his sikh mercenary never cared about anything except money and Jawahar singh even felt insulted by them but could not do anything against them. All in all when news arrived that Ahmed Shah Abdali is coming back, sikhs
fled to their home without even intimating their payer i.e. Jawahar. Holkar also hurried for treaty b/w Jawahar and Najib khan and went straight towards his home. Baffled Jawahar came back to his own capital after spending 150 Lakhs of money of that time with empty hands
of course. All others like sikhs and Holkar had their purses filled on the expenses of Jawahar. The gate he may have gotten from some small forts nearby delhi to show something to his people, look i brought gates of delhi, bcz he couldn't touch any gates of delhi
let alone taking it. Now talk about Surajmal not losing any battle. Surajmal was defeated by Marathas 1754. He sent letters to abdali promising to pay his money and promising fealty so abdali didnt attack him. He used to considered Jaipur Rajas his sovereign and
hence under them. And of course he was loyal towards mughals as well. Lastly he was killed in a battle against Rohillas. He fought under safdarjung during latter's rebellio. These are literally all the north indian powers at that time. Maratha, Rajput, Abdali, Mughal, Safdarjung,
rohillas, he was either subordinate or was defeated by all these people. He could expand his kingdom for this very reason because he had good mind and knew he can never win against anyone so he did everything with diplomacy. Unlike his son Jawahar singh, who
thinking he is son of a raja and no longer under Jaipur Maharaja tried to do what he should have never done. He was signally defeated twice by Jaipur ruler Madho Singh and thus ended the rising of jat power which started with support of Kachhwahas and ended with Kachhwahas.
Edit: In second tweet read: jawahar singh instead of surajmal
