📜 RARE Description of Maratha Ganimi Kava Warfare: Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj's secrets. Marathas were entitled by decree of "Maharashtra Dharma" (Arya Kshatriya Dharma) to utilize Vrika-Yuddha & Chīttā-Yuddha. The Wolf-Tactics of Ganimi Kava were described in ShivaDigvijay.
Vrika-Yuddha and Chitta-Yuddha translates to Lupine Warfare and Pantherine Warfare, and are modelled upon these classes of beasts which hunt for prey. These are extremely dynamic modes of ancient Aryan Gavishti warcraft, and rely on speed, mobility and man-to-man superiority.
Centuries before Sikhism or any other militant systemization, the 96 Clans of Deccani Kshatriyas had already systemized their disciplined lifestyle with their martial career completely. A Maratha perpetually carried a weapon with him, even at the time of eating food!
Maratha Navy Sar-I-Khel Kanhojiraje Angre Sankpal even applied Maratha Wolf-Tactics to something as sophisticated as Naval Warfare against European Colonial Invaders. A groundbreaking innovation, which showed that Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaja's tactics worked on land AND sea!
Endgame of Wolf-Tactics Combat was to force the enemy to fight a Maratha in hand to hand combat, man for man which sealed his doom. Each & Every SINGLE Maratha defeat in their history was due to Marathas being shot from distance or being outnumbered or ambushed or assassinated.
It is amusing that Marathas developed the Ganimi Kava (Enemy's Ravaging) referring their Enemy as "Ganim" in this original context, but were themselves known as Dakshini "Ganims" in North India BECAUSE of their usage of Ganim Kava warfare!
Various historical figures who played a key role in developing Ganimi Kava: • Kamal Khan Dakkani (Darab Khan Jardi) • Kadamba Empress Bubuji Khanam Punjibai Khatun • Malik Ahmadshah Nizam I • Ibrahim Adilshah I • Malik Ambara • Maharaja Farzand Shahajiraje Bhonsale
There are similar terms to Ganimi Kava warcraft like Khazanaq, Jung-E-Qazzaq, Bargigiri, Mulkgiri. By 1800s, Ganimi Kava had become a part of Maratha identity to the extent that Yashwantrao Holkar requested Maharaja Daulatrao Shinde to combat Britishers using Jung-E-Mahratta.
In truth Mulkgiri (Territorial Debasement), Bargigiri (Cavalry-Optimized Maneuvers), and other elements were all just small parts of the large school of Ganimi Kava. Malik Ambar's innovations were limited to certain elements of Bargigiri ONLY, not entire Ganimi Kava.
Bargigiri was already present among Kshatriyas since centuries. The text Kanhadade Prabandha describes the old-fashioned North Indian Rajput Lieges managing and maintaining specialized horses on behalf of their Bannermen to be utilized during war.
In the Bahmani Empire era, just two Maratha Kings are recorded as having offered over *50* guerrilla battles in the march of Wazir Mahmud Gawan in the small route from Kolhapur to Khelna (Vishalgad). The massacre of his predecessor Malik-Ut-Tujjar Hasan Basri is famous already.
30,000 Maratha Shirke, Chalukya, Maurya forces united at night & destroyed the commando force of Hasan Basri which had a domino effect in destroying Bahmani Empire's Afaqi-Dakkhani synergy as the Dakkhanis blamed Sayyid Afaqis for this debacle and later raped & murdered them all!
Life works in a smooth flow of events, everything building upon the thing before it to form the history we read. Marathas had the advantage of been entitled & exposed to the most unique modes of warfare which led to their meteoric rise to power again after the Fall of Devagiri.
