SubCon Muslims SIMP for Aurangzeb because of Deoband and its infiltration across Muslim institutions, especially post-1947. Deoband was founded on tenets of Shah Waliullah Dehlavi, of the Naqshbandi Order. Aurangzeb brought Naqshbandis into relevance, eliminating other M-Orders.
The Naqshbandis brought in by Aurangzeb were Turano-Centric, in this list also comes Ghazi al-Din Khan, the father of Asaf Jah, the first Nizam-ul-Mulk.
Post-Aurangzeb, this Turani Faction engaged in Court Intrigues and also came in conflict with Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah.
They were vehemently against Indians and the adoption of native culture by the Muslims, and even formed a bloc against the Emperor. The other side of Native-ists comprise of Mir Bakshi Khan-i-Dauran, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and the Emperor Mohammad Shah himself.
This is the reason why Mohammad Shah is considered the worst of Mughal Emperors by Indian Islamists, abused as "Rangila" – the degenerate, when he actually was trying to undo the damage of Aurangzeb's era, and if it wasn't for Nadir Shah's invasion he would have been successful.
Coming back to Nadir Shah's invasion, it is very likely that his successes were to be credited to none other than Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah only, of course in coordination with Sadat Ali Khan I. They both invited Nadir Shah Afshar and betrayed their master, Emperor Mohammad Shah.
Aurangzeb's failures can't be understated, he not only antagonised the Dharmic Kings of India, he destroyed established Muslim traditions in India with those that evolved natively.
He brought in people who betrayed his successors, sabotaged his Empire and brough about its fall.
Not only that, but the successors of Naqshbandis i.e. Deobandis established themsleves by capitalising on the sense of loss of Indian Muslims, post 1857, and even in the Empire's death parasitically feeding upon the the dead.
Today they seek capture of Delhi's Jama Masjid also.
