Cold email is damn hard to figure out on your own.
It took me 5+ years.
Here's a step by step guide to sending your first cold email campaign 🧵
It took me 5+ years.
Here's a step by step guide to sending your first cold email campaign 🧵
Step 1.) Start with the Work
When you cold email someone––they'll immediately think:
"Is this person worth my time?"
Prove it with your work.
Whether it's a:
• Portfolio site
• A pdf
• Your Twitter account
Expensive sites are overrated, just make it easy to view work.

Step 2.) The Offer
If your offer sucks, NO ONE will reply––your offer is everything.
Great offers solve real problems, not assumed ones.
Stating what you do is not an offer.
Stating how your service solves a problem, is an offer.
So how do you stand out in a noisy world?👇

The Golden Circle
"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it."
If you've never watched this video of Simon Sinek,
for the love of God, go watch it.
It changed the way I craft offers and it will for you too:

Step 3.) Script Writing
I wrote a concise guide on writing cold emails below.
2 edits learned in the past month:
IF you have a unique enough offer, personalization doesn't matter.
IF your personalization sounds corny or contrived, it will hurt you.

Step 4.) A/B Testing Your Script
In order to know what led to a cold email fail/success –– you must isolate variables.
Rule of thumb: Only make one edit to your script at a time.
Send version A to 60 leads, send B to another 60.
Compare opens & reply rates.
Rinse & repeat.

Step 5.) Finding Leads
Reach out to the wrong leads & you'll waste all your time.
Be a detective––find digital clues like:
• revenue size
• category (fashion, SAAS, etc)
• platform (where they hangout)
Find the clues & you'll find the right leads.

Step 6.) Sending Emails
Most people send 30 emails & get discouraged when no one replies.
But volume is key in the beginning of your cold email journey.
You need tons of at-bats to learn what’s working & what isn’t.
My minimum volume per campaign:
60 leads w/ 3-5 follow ups

I want to make this clear:
You can run cold email campaigns for $0.
But the more money you spend, the less time you'll spend.
