Bollywood imagines itself to have matured by showing clichéd lifestyle of substance abuse n promiscuity.
Real maturity is movies like #KashmirFiles that show the horrors of our history. That force you to think! @vivekagnihotri @AnupamPKher
The reality that we ought to know but
has been suppressed long enough for vested interests.
Lot of genocides have been ignored and not acknowledged; but by other nations. Cambodia, Armenia etc. There isn’t a single example except India where an entire country has been kept in dark about such brutality against
it’s own citizens.
Hollywood has made pretty honest and gut wrenching movies to depict Nazi’s reign of terror on Jews. Nobody ever protested. Because that’s what mature cinema does. It has the capability of telling a story in a comprehensible and relatable manner that can touch
your soul and make you ponder.
Kashmir Files isn’t a must watch because it’s a good movie. It’s a must watch because it’s part of our history that we should know. So many chapters of exploitation of Indians calmly wrapped up and shoved in bottom drawers by biased and pampered
historians who were made custodians of India’s narrative. So much brutality camouflaged under political ambitions. So many catastrophes just washed away by media because it didn’t serve their masters right.
A new India isn’t just about roads and rails and vaccine n Tejas. It’s
about conscious effort to make every wrong right. It should be about justice and transparency. It should be about equality and equity, not just sloganeering on roads.
Personally I think Kashmir Files is a new chapter in Indian cinema and hope other movie makers learn from it and
carry this journey of truth telling through their talents, however uncomfortable and unbelievable that truth might be, for all or some.
Jai Hind.
