Seeing Messi back to Barça rumours have me conflicted.
My mind is telling me it's not necessary. We needed the separation; it pushed us to become a strong team with an exciting project.
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see him retire at Barça.
Camp Nou is his home.
Those saying he wouldn't fit Xavi's system aren't looking hard enough. He'd love the players we have.
On a free transfer & wages that reflect who he is now and not who he used to be & our financial situation, I'd say yes.
Well, it's hard to say no, isn't it?
But the monetary aspect is just one of multiple caveats in the whole story.
Barcelona are finally getting strong as a collective and not as an XI made out of individual superstars.
Messi wouldn't come in as the Alpha & Omega but as the mentor and support to the young talents.
Overall, I see it as something nigh-impossible. But I'm not a transfer guru, nor do I claim to be.
If it happens, I'd still welcome him with a smile under reasonable circumstances - obviously!
But if it doesn't happen, that's fine too. Sadly, it's a painfully closed chapter.
