14 years ago today, my mom died. Her diagnosis (terminal brain cancer) just months into creating @reddit, had a tremendous impact on my career and life.
I'm tired of this day being a sad day for me and our family, so I'm launching the @776foundation (mission: fight inequity worldwide) so we can always remember Mar 15 as the day I began a legacy of good work to honor her.
I didn’t want to wait until I was an old man to start putting my experience, network, and wealth to work.
The two-year 776 Fellowship program will equip 20 dedicated, young leaders in the climate space with a $100,000 grant and the full support from the Foundation’s network of founders, investors, and partners.
This new generation has grown up in the great shadow of climate change and has proven again and again that they are driven to find real solutions to build a better future.
The @776Foundation Fellowship Program will be helmed by a very familiar face within the @SevenSevenSix community: @GarvinLissie, our Founding Chief of Staff, will be taking up the role of Foundation & Fellowship Program Director.
Applications for the inaugural class of the @776Foundation Fellowship are now open. If you’re between 18-23 and ready to dedicate the next two years to build on the forefront of climate innovation, join us on this critical mission 776.org
The #776Fellowship is just the first project of @776foundation — as our planet's survival is priority 0 — and there will be many more projects that fight global inequity to come. 🙌
