How To Raise Kids That Believe in Themselves
//Thread👇👇
A child that doesn’t believe in themselves will be limited in all areas of life.
As a parent, it’s your job to teach them to believe in themselves.
Let’s talk about how you do that 👇👇
Let me give you a picture of my background.
I was bullied as a kid.
I was mistreated so often that I started to believe what was said of me.
I thought I was…
Ugly
A Dork
A Loser
Because I identified as what the bullies called me.
They were able to bully me because I didn’t believe in myself.
When my parents enrolled me in Tae Kwon Do I learned what
Self-respect
Self-confidence
And self-defense
Were truly all about.
It wasn’t just the instructors who taught me these things.
I was surrounded by kids who were getting stronger, were learning self-defense, doing knuckle push-ups, and breaking boards.
It was inspiring and badass.
As much as it helped my mindset, it wasn’t enough, I still lacked self-belief.
This goes to show you motivation will only take them so far.
Without self-belief, they won’t succeed.
Without belief, they’ll fall into a victim mindset.
Why? They’re forced to believe in others.
If something goes right or wrong, it’s someone else’s fault.
Here Are Three Things That Will Save Your Kids From Having a Victim Mindset
1 Don’t Force Them to do Something
Self-belief comes when they voluntarily do something.
Forcing them doesn’t get them any closer to self-belief.
Have them choose sports/hobbies they like and fully support them.
2 Don’t Helicopter Parent.
You can’t teach every aspect of life to your child.
They need to…
fail
explore
struggle
succeed
On their own in order to learn.
This is the main way they learn the skills of functional independence.
3 Celebrate your wins with your kids.
Tell them your goals, how you’re trying to be better.
Maybe you’re trying to lose weight, get a promotion, or get a degree.
Tell them as you make progress and celebrate with them
By doing this, you’ll be showing them self-belief.
Conclusion:
It’s your job to believe in your kids and teach them self-belief.
It’s key in enabling them to reach their goals.
Once they believe in themselves and they’ll be unstoppable.
