The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His angels, and by all the people."

Al-Layth ibn Sa'd رحمه الله said, "If I saw a person of desires (i.e. innovations) walking upon the water I would not accept from him." So Imam Shafi'i رحمه الله then said, "He (al-Layth) has fallen short. If I saw him walking in the air I would not accept from him."

Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān on being asked about sitting with people of innovation: "Do not sit with the people of innovation publicly in front of the people or privately by yourself where there is only yourself and him..
Stay away from the people of religious innovation and do not mix with them and sit with them and boycott them until they repent from their religious innovation."
