A thread on books on #writing I have found useful & learned from.
1. They cover such topics as the craft, mechanics, PoV, Show-Don't-Tell, editing, and more.
2. While no single book can 'teach' you the art & craft of writing, reading good books on the subject can help.
3. YMMV

"Self-Editing for Fiction Writers, Second Edition: How to Edit Yourself Into Print", by Renni Browne, Dave King
Indescribably useful, with examples of PoV changes and how to detect them, and lots and lots and lots more.

"Steering The Craft: A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story", by Ursula K. Le Guin
More on the art than the craft, but a short and very useful book.

"On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft", by Stephen King
Read it for the memoir, the tips on writing, an unvarnished look at the fate of most writers, and his description of his accident in Maine as an example of, well, good writing.

"On Writing Well : The Classic Guide to Writing Nonfiction", by William Zinsser
It says "nonfiction", but you can learn a lot about fiction writing too.
Yes, give it a read.

"The Oxford Essential Guide to Writing (Essential Resource Library)", by Thomas S. Kane
Yes, it is 'essential', it is well-organized, and it is very handy.
Covers grammar, punctuation, speech, and more.
Did I say it's useful?

"Word Power Made Easy: The Complete Handbook for Building a Superior Vocabulary", by Norman Lewis
Good writing is also about using the right words.
This is a classic.

"All about Words", by Maxwell Nurnberg, Morris Rosenblum
Another of those 'word power' books, but slightly differently done. Again, useful.

"Roget's International Thesaurus", by Barbara Ann Kipfer
Why choose 'wrong' when 'inapt' may be a better word?
Or 'short' when 'terse' may be better?

"The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person's Guide to Writing in the 21st Century", by Steven Pinker
I haven't read this yet, but in my cart.
Thanks, @gchikermane, for the recommendation.
