I've said it once, I'll say it again:
You don't watch porn because you're horny.
You watch porn because you're hurting.
Dudes make the mistake of thinking their porn use is a sexual outlet.
"Oh I get horny all the time that's why I watch it"
"I have a high sex drive I have to watch it"
"My wife has a headache what else am I supposed to do"
All of those are beliefs that justify the addiction.
Yes, porn is sexually explicit and erotic content that excites and arouses you.
But being addicted to porn has nothing to do with sex or wanting sex.
If you wanted sex you'd go and have sex not watch more porn.
You aren't aroused or excited.
But it is one of two things:
1. Dopamine craving
2. Urge to release tension
Let me break these down for you.
1. Dopamine Craving
All addictions are rooted in hijacked dopaminergic reward systems.
Meaning, your brain is obsessed with doing the same feel-good-activity over and over and over again.
Why?
Because it releases dopamine and it makes you feel really, really good.
That feeling of "horniness" isn't horniness at all.
It's just your lizard brain telling you "I want dopamine, let's get some."
The trick is your reward system/lizard brain/limbic system knows
Porn = A LOT of dopamine
How much? Take a look at this:
Dopamine is required for proper brain function.
The nuerotransmitter dopamine isn't just some feel-good brain crack.
It's a reward and a motivator.
What happens when you don't have enough dopamine?
- No energy
- No focus
- Brain fog
- Depressed 24/7
Not a fun way to live.
But too much dopamine from one source causes a big problem:
Your brain stops getting dopamine from other things.
This means you MUST watch porn to get your fix.
When you go 3-5 days without porn you experience:
- No energy
- No focus
- Brain fog
- Depressed 24/7
"I'm horny"
No you just want dopamine.
2. Urge to release tension.
The urge to watch porn isn't the urge to watch porn at all.
It's the urge to release negative emotional tension (NET).
This means whenever you're:
- Anxious
- Stressed
- Frustrated
- Loneliness
- Depressed
(All forms of NET)
You want a RELEASE.
Stress is tension.
You don't like tension.
Whenever you feel tense you want to watch porn and masturbate.
Ejaculation is a physical release of tension
And ejaculating comes with an orgasm (which is a feel-good dopamine bomb going off in your brain).
It's all stress relief.
It is easier to watch porn than it is to work through stress and other negative emotions.
Long day at work? Easier to watch porn than workout and release tension.
Fight with your wife? Easier to watch porn than write out what happened.
But you are a MAN you don't take easy.
You watch porn so you can escape from negative emotions and trials and feel good without doing anything to deserve it.
That what every addiction is.
Escape and unwarranted pleasure.
Why can't you quit porn?
Two reasons:
1. You live a dopamine deprived life
2. You are stress 24/7 without a healthy release
The solution?
1. Find healthy dopamine alternatives that excite and rejuvinate you
2. Learn how to release tension and use your sexual energy instead of letting it use you

Here's how you can break the 3-5 day releapse cycle and start living porn-free:
Number 1: Get You Some Dopamine
There are a few things you can do to increase your dopamine levels without porn.
- Exercise
- Sunlight
- Hard work
- Companionship
- Accomplishments
Keep this core principle in mind while searching for healthy dopamine alternatives:
Your brain releasing dopamine as a reward when it completes a task.
Especially if that tasks benefits your survival.
Notice the difference you feel at the end of the day when you comeplete a to-do list
VS
How you feel after spending hours watching porn, eating junk food, and not doing anything productive.
One is a clean dopamine high.
The other is dopamine abuse and being an outright loser.
So. When you get a dopamine craving to watch porn, ask yourself:
"What can I do right now that will give me good dopamine?"
Come up with a gameplan for these moments.
Any tasks? Projects? What about a walk? Gym? What other options do you have?
Come up with these in advanced.
Doing those things
Completing those tasks
Checking those things off of your list
Will give you dopamine
And you will feel amazing.
This is called Dopamine Transmution.
You want dopamine from porn, but you get dopamine from something else.
This is something you must practice and it will become second nature.

Number 2: Healthy Tension Release
This is my personal favorite method.
It's easy to follow.
Super simple.
Super powerful.
(Here's how a client felt afterwards:)
Step 1: Prep
You need to be in the proper headspace.
Tell yourself:
"I have an urge to release tension and I am going to release it by writing"
You are doing a number of things here but the biggest one is this:
You are redirecting that tension.
You are going to let it flow through you instead of run from it.
You are going to let yourself feel what's bothering you instead of escaping it.
Powerful stuff.
Step 2: Pen and paper
Sure you can use your computer or phone to write this stuff down
But if you use pen and paper you will transmute your energy and bring it into the physical world
Plus your brain prefers pen and paper and will remember this better (& want to do it again).
Step 3: Write everything
There's no real structure to this.
Just write what you're thinking.
Write what you're feeling.
Write what's stressing you out or bothering you.
Just sit down and tap into that tension and write it out of your being.
What you are doing is unloading the subconscious mind.
You are getting all of the junk that's been sitting on the back-burners out.
That's where tension and stress comes from.
Problems you haven's solved, things you haven't yet delt with.
It's all there on the back-burner.
This may take 15 minutes.
Maybe 45. Perhaps even longer.
But let me tell you this:
You will feel better doing this for 5 minutes than after watching porn for 5 minutes.
After you're done releasing your tension a weight will be lifted.
You will feel amazing.
