I don’t think this is a majority of trans people & there are myriad reasons for the phenomenon— but it’s clear how this particular incentive structure bolsters imperial power by laundering it through “marginal identities” (that ultimately demand no revolutionary change)
You could say that the Trans phenomenon is in microcosm a demand for a “change in ideology” as facade of a regime that must be conserved in its essential features— don’t change property laws but do “desegregate the bathroom”— literally just a “change in signage”
