Muslim traders who are facing a boycott in annual fairs near Hindu temples in Udupi met Head of Pejawar Math, Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji yesterday, and requested him to allow them to participate in businesses at fairs.
Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji, while acknowledging that peace and harmonious coexistence are very necessary for a society to have a conducive atmosphere, said, "This peace cannot be the burden of just one community, nor can peace be achieved by just one community."
"We Hindus have suffered pain & sorrow for very long. Because of several bitter experiences, Hindu society is going through agony. This issue cannot be sorted out by mutual discussions between a few religious leaders. A lasting solution should be found at the grassroot level.
"When a section or group continuously faces injustice, its frustration & anger pours out. Hindus are fed up. We have to sit on a dais & discuss causes for this situation. There is hope of harmony getting established again if hindus aren't continually subjected to persecution."
"All cows inside cattle shed of a Hindu widow have been stolen, her livelihood shattered and she has been driven into the streets. Many such brutal incidents have caused great pain amongst Hindus. It is not possible to establish peace & coexistence if we just mouth these words."

Swamiji noted that as a result of the Hijab fight, economic boycott of Muslim merchants has happened and felt that those who have faced this must address the root cause of the problem.

He said, โLet ur society punish those who have committed wrongs, address the wrongs done to others, &ย protest against erring members. Wrong things done by one affects whole society. If those who commit wrongs are not supported by community, Hindu society won't suffer suchย pain.โ
This is the kind of Hindu leaders we need. Swamiji is to be venerated for his strong stand.
