I've written online for 407 days straight.
Since then, I've grown my account to 47,769+ followers and became a full-time writer.
If you want to write online, read this:
Writer's block is a myth.
Don't wait to write when you feel "inspired."
You silence your inner critic and become a better writer when you publish every single day.
Action inspires creativity.
Not the other way around.
To grow on Twitter, log off Twitter.
Learn skills, do interesting hobbies, get life experience.
Then, tweet about it.
You'll separate yourself from the everybody when you lean into your uniqueness.
It's supply and demand.
The less replaceable you are, the more you'll grow.
Make friends.
Writing is nerve-wracking in the beginning.
You're finding your voice, nobody reads your posts, and you question whether your writing is "worthy."
When you have a community, you'll be encouraged to write more and less afraid to post.
My friend, @respectmywrites, has the best writing community on Twitter.
He does a Twitter Spaces every Sunday.
Whether you're a new or experienced writer, I highly suggest you check it out.
You'll meet some amazing people.
@respectmywrites As a creator, you're in the education + entertainment biz.
If people wanted information, they'd search it on Google.
People want to follow people.
Show your personality, lifestyle, and thoughts.
@respectmywrites Get into deep work.
Your ability to write is determined by your ability to focus.
Find your environment where you can focus.
For me, it's at a coffee shop.
For you, it may be at a library.
Wherever it is, eliminate distractions and get into flow.
@respectmywrites Learn to write, but study marketing + sales.
Followers, likes, and engagement are cool...
But you can't deposit them in your bank account.
Study marketing to capture attention, learn sales to monetize it.
@respectmywrites I paid for marketing and sales coaching, but if you want more affordable options:
• Alex Hormozi's YouTube channel + his book "$100M Offers"
• Any book by Dan Kennedy, Joe Sugarman, Drew Whitman, David Ogilvy.
@respectmywrites Make valuable content.
People won't value you until you give value.
Pick an in-demand skill, consume quality content, apply it, teach what you learn.
@respectmywrites Every tweet you read is programming you.
Even this one.
If you read the same stuff every day, it goes into your subconscious.
Over time, you'll start believing it.
So, mute any accounts with a mindset you don't want to adopt.
@respectmywrites When you write online, you're going to get hate at some point.
These people are projecting their insecurities onto you.
Feel bad for them, not angry at them.
They're not worth your energy.
@respectmywrites Create a swipe file.
This is a place where you store inspiring content.
Tweet resonate with you?
Add it to a file.
Headline grab your attention?
Add it to a file.
Article make you read til the end?
Add it to a file.
When you can't think of ideas, refer to your swipe file.
@respectmywrites You don't need a 2022 MacBook Pro to write online.
You don't need a 4 year English degree to write online.
You don't need a following of 10,000+ followers to write online.
Quit the excuses.
Write.
You'll get better over time.
