Mastic Gum is your ticket to break away from grocery store gum
🧵Thread 🧵
In order to focus on the solution, we need to first understand the problem:
Grocery store gum was invented in 1905 and has been plaguing our society due to the ingredients:
Typical ingredients include:
Gum Base:
• Paraffin (via the Fischer-Tropsch process)
• Petroleum wax
• Petroleum wax synthetic
• Polyethylene
• Polyisobutylene polyvinyl
Polyethylene can actually be found in PLASTIC BAGS!
Sweeteners:
Gives flavor to the gum that we so desire and why we ultimately chew the gum we pick.
Sweeteners such as sugar, dextrose, glucose/corn syrup, erythritol, isomalt can cause tooth decay with the exception of xylitol which has been shown to prevent cavities and decay
Softeners:
Most hate chewing gum that gets hard so why not add glycerine or even vegetable oil to the mix?
We know the negative effects of seed oils so it's important to steer away from them!! The mouth is the gateway to the brain and most sicknesses so be wary!
So what about the solution?
In comes mastic gum, a lovely tree sap from the Mediterranean that the greeks have been chewing on for centuries.
Mastic gum has been shown to add important trace elements to aid in digestion
Free of any unnatural ingredients that are held in traditional gum
A secondary benefit of mastic gum is that it is reusable and beefs your masseter muscle up which makes chewing more efficient
Sources:
It is important to find the right source and the one I love the most is @GrecoGum. They are consistently sold out which is a testament to their product but just keep your eyes peeled!
