Events of the past few days, just goes on to show how fragile peace was in all these years and how many concessions must have been made to not ‘provoke’ the disturbance of that peace.
Sad part is that concession is being treated as a virtue instead of seeing it as submission.
These concessions/submission seems so expected n common that its almost an entitlement to be treated like that forever. Or else any minor shift, risks provoking and facing violence.
This is the lopsided virtue of secularism that has been created to celebrate this fragile peace
These fault lines always existed and one side took on the brunt of making sure they keep ceding more and more space, so that the peace is maintained. Like a rule almost.
Whenever there has been an attempt to reclaim even a little space, it’s seen as communalism and provocation.
