Ample of #Jain images strewn inside Sri Bheemeshwara #Hindu temple in Hanamkonda, Vemulawada, Rajanna Siricilla district, #Telangana which shows there was once a Jain temple here.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple belongs to 9th century CE, built by Chalukya King Bhaddega during 850-895 CE. The temple is surrounded by a massive stone compound & boasts wonderful architecture, built in Nagara style.

The temple is built on a raised platform with a mukhamandapa, an entrance hall & a Sanctum Sanctorum. The raised platform has a variety of rich carvings of Siva, Dasavataras & the Panchatantra stories.

Photos of the temple in 1960s. Taken from 'Glory to Vemulawada Kshetra'. We can see how many Jain idols are there and how they are placed outside the main shrine.
