๐Ÿงต THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS - THREAD
It is the ultimate goal of everyone & yet most are having a hard time finding it. Even those who have made big riches and have plenty of free time.
Why is that?
And what to do to be happier?
1/ Read below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡
2/ While there is no such thing as one single right path, I believe my rules can be applied to almost anyone & everyone.
If you want to be happier & change your life for the better just follow the rules below. It's that simple.
3/ "The happiest person in the world is the one who spends every hour of the day & every day of the year doing things that makes him happy during this whole time" - Me
4/ Steve Jobs once said:
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people thinking...
5/ ... Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice and most important have the courage to follow your HEART & INTUITION.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary"
6/ It made a big impression on me and ever since then I was thinking about it, trying to apply that advice.
I was also thinking, what is the ultimate goal of life?
Is it to be rich? To have a lot of money? To become a powerful person? To make a legacy?
NO, but also YES!
7/ I found out the ultimate goal, essentially, is to be happy & do things that make you happy. DUH?
BUT there are many roads to happiness.
The thing is they differ with each person & each person gotta figure out themselves what makes them happy.
So let's unravel it
8/ The week has 7 days and each day consists of 24 hours. That's 168 hours in a week
The simple rule to be happy is to do things that make you the happiest in all those 168 hours.
It's obviously a bit more complicated than that but it is also quite that simple. Let's dig in๐Ÿ‘‡
9/ The ๐Ÿ”‘ rule I always asked myself since then:
Is the thing that I'm doing right now making me happy?
If yes good & if not:
Does it serve a purpose or a vision of mine to make me happy in the future?
If yes good & if not:
Maybe I should spend my time doing something better
10/ You see you can have a guy that has made a lot of money & is considered "successful" & yet makes suicide..
You see a lot of big accounts in crypto that made fortune & yet are depressed...
Why is that? It's because money =/= happiness
Money is only a tool. A good one though
11/ You can have a guy that is making a bank, drives a nice car & his girl is a beautiful 10/10 lady.
But does that mean he must be happy? No, but also Yes.
12/ If he spends 12 hours in his work every day doing stuff he doesn't enjoy, doesn't have time to drive his nice car and is constantly arguing with his lady all the time.
Well... He might not be happy.
13/ But let's reverse it. They are enjoyin their time together, he enjoys riding his nice car & has time for it & is doing "work" that is his hobby
He doesn't really have to even count time in the work then, because its fun
You see they are in the same situation & yet different
14/ So the question you always need to ask yourself:
Is the thing you are doing right now really making you happy?
And if not does it serve a goal or a purpose or a vision of yours that will make you happy in the future?
15/ You see society is incredibly demanding. Let's say it wants you to become a laywer. So you become one and a successful one. And make a lot of money too. But you don't enjoy it.
Well, you won't be happy.
16/ But maybe you'd enjoy creating art. But you might not make that much money. Well, it still might be worth doing it.
Even if it's not that popular or makes that much money.
But being happy is the ultimate goal, remember.
17/ Sometimes though you might not enjoy doing what you are doing as much, like studying at a university or doing some side work.
But if you have a vision or a goal then it's worth sacrificing the time in order to reach that goal of yours that will make you happy in the future
18/ At a rather young age I took a very simple job. I was a postman.
Many told me I was nuts. That it is far below my level, that I should continue with my university or get a better one. I did not care
19/ I had a very clear vision of where I wanted to go.
The postman job offered me to end my workday very quickly and focus the rest of the day learning about trading & investing & all the kinds of stuff.
I did not enjoy it as much but I knew what my goal was
20/ I was even offered a promotion at the post office but I declined it. Nobody understood that but I had a clear vision of my goal and the rest is of course history.
Now I spend the big majority of my time doing things I enjoy.
But I keep asking myself that question every day
21/ You see the ultimate commodity is your time. It's really that simple.
If you are going to spend your time doing things you don't like to please others you won't be happy. 100% guaranteed.
If you are gonna please yourself, you will.
22/ So my advice is: Don't be afraid to spend a lot of time by yourself figuring out what makes you happy.
Don't be afraid to do things you like because your current surrounding might not like it.
You will attract new ones that do anyways and the rest will fall away.
23/ Once you find it, you won't mind spending hours a day of your free time doing it.
Eventually, you'll find a way to monetize it and make it your living.
And when you do you'll have more money to buy your time and do more stuff you enjoy doing.
24/ So my rules are as follows:
1) Find what you truly enjoy doing
2) Have a vision
3) WoORK HARD on that vision
4) Find a way to monetize it
5) Keep asking yourself: Is the thing I'm doing making me happy?
6) Enjoy it & share your story
