After two months of war it has become very clear that the western Far Left don’t even have the language to discuss Ukraine. “Pro-war”, “escalation”, “NATO imperialism”, it’s all just waffle copy-pasted from previous geopolitical crises. A movement utterly divorced from reality.
If someone wants to call you “pro-war” for defending Ukrainian resistance, why would you even give a shit? It’s an absolutely absurd standard, one they would never apply to Iraq, Palestine, Yemen or anywhere else. They have no argument here, only piss and vinegar.
They oppose weapons deliveries to Ukraine, doubt atrocities committed against Ukrainians, claim Russia id fighting Nazis, and place the onus on Ukraine to negotiate a surrender. They are calling for a Russian victory. It’s not even subtle, it’s as implicit as it gets.
Ukrainians don’t say “when the war will end”, they say “when we win”. Don’t let anyone shame you out of supporting Ukrainian self-determination. You are on the right side of history, they are on the side of Russian fascism.
Next time someone says you are pro-war and pro-regime change for defending Ukraine, just respond like this. There’s nothing more to say.
Just to be clear, I’m not talking about individuals, I’m talking about entire movements. This problem with them is endemic, war crimes revisionism is endemic, dictator apologism is endemic. These entire movements are rotten at their very core, they can not & will not be redeemed.
As I have long said “anti-imperialism” as understood by these people is not an ideology, it’s a conspiracy theory, and it has nothing to do with ‘opposing imperialism’. It’s a mass-delusion.
