We're going through the news media's Great Unbundling: star journalists build audiences & go solo, tired of pulling the weight of the rest
The next step will be the rebundling
Star journalists will realize it makes sense to bundle news writers, and will get together, this time controlling the media they create.
Some companies will facilitate this
@SubstackInc is well positioned to try it
Some news outlets will ban their journalists from creating newsletters. Others will treat it as a perk.
Trade Unions might have a say. I expect more pseudonymous reporters.
