Then Rasulullah goes to Fatima and asks her if she wants to marry Ali, she was so shy she couldnāt say a word but Rasulullah ensured she consented to the marriage out of free will before taking d Mahr from Ali. Ali went to the market to sell his sword so Uthman RA saw him in the
Market & came to him & asks how much heās willing to sell it, Ali goes, how much will U it for it, & Uthman goes Iāll pay 400 dirhams for it (this is his future inlaw tryin to make things a little easier for him)š &Uthman handed back to Ali and says āthis is my wedding gift to U
Ali went back to Rasulullah and told him what happened and Made duāa for Uthman RA. Then comes the wedding preparation, Ali sold everything he had and came up with 480 Dirhams and that was what he gave out as the Mahr (Rasul said the best of Mahr are the least expensive ones)
He was given back the 480 dirhams to buy some perfumes and furniture with. He had never bought perfume before so he gave Ibn Masāud from it to buy perfumes and gave Umm salama the rest to buy whatever the bride would need for the wedding. Rasulullah gave some money to Abubakar
To buy some clothes for Ali and Fatima RA and send Ammar bn Yasir made preparations for the wedding. Aisha and Umm Salma were given responsibility to prepare the home of Ali and Fatima RA. A they took some mud from the valley and made it into cushions with their hands. Took some
Dates and water, took some wood in a corner where they can hang their clothes and Rasulullah made the bed from wood stuff with palm leaves & a velvet cover & pillow filled with animal skin, left for them a pot and a stone to grind with š. They only had dates, barley & date paste
And people said it was the happiest day they can ever remember. Rasulullah called some of the ansar to witness the wedding and said ā I bear witness that I have married my daughter to Ali for 480 dirhams as Mahrā. Rasulullah asked them both to go home &wait for him, he made wudu
Poured the water on them, Fatima was shivering and he called and embraced her and said ādo not worry, I have married you to the most beloved person in my familyā. And he made this duāa āoh Allah! Bless them, what is between them and upon them and bless them and their offspring.
āDuring one of those jokes with her father, Fatima jokingly said about Ali.āYou married me to a man with a big stomach? And Rasulullah laughed and saidā āHe was the first of my companions to accept Islam, the one with the most knowledge and the most patient with peopleāš
People always wanted to know who Rasulullah loved the most and One time Ali RA asked Rasulullah who he loved the most between him and Fatima and Rasulullah responded ā She is more beloved to me than you but you are more precious to me than herāš. SAW always had perfect answers
The first problem theyād have after their marriage is realizing that they were already married and distant from Rasulullah SAW since they now already have their own home.
