4 questions I ask every prospect
(not a fancy post, straight information and why it's crucial for eCommerce PPC success)
/Google Ads Thread/
The Four
1. Competition
2. AOV/A-LTV
3. USP
4. Desired Goal
#1 - Competition
You need competition to be successful w/ google ads
if you have no active competitors then there is a REASON why they're not pushing ad spend on a specific channel
competitors are a goldmine for understanding how your offer can survive w/ cold traffic
and...
another huge benefit of Competitors
(the more the better)
you can leverage competitor traffic (VERY WARM TRAFFIC) to slice the education curve for your offer/product
> paid/organic search traffic
> direct website visit
> similar website visits
> youtube channel visits
so...
competition allows you to first verify this channel can be profitable
then it allows you to maximize your strategy/reach to the right audiences while tailoring the algorithm to your favor
===
#2 - AOV / Annualized LTV
Cold traffic can be expensive...
you need room to
work with when understanding how your offer/product fairs against different levels of intent traffic & with competitors in the mix
High AOV
> allows you to spend more than your competitors
> more spend to nurture potential customers
Annualized Lifetime Customer Value
> allows you to be one step ahead of your competitors when going after new customers (more aggressive CAC)
> can potentially be break-even or in the red for the first purchase (because you know profits are in orders 2+)
high LTV = PPC heaven
#3 - Great Unique Product Identifier
if you sell the same thing as everyone else in your niche
(cough cough drop shippers)
Google is going to be hell for you and your future
you NEED at least 1 major difference in your product
what kind of difference?
your USP must either
> enhance the product in some way (faster/better at X/longer use case/etc)
> make the experience of X easier/more enjoyable
this is imperative for both ad copy & conversion rates post-click
don't start advertising until you've identified this
#4 - Desired Goal w/ Google Ads
are you trying to scale to $200,000/mo in spend?
are you trying to achieve a certain goal ROAS at a certain ad spend?
you must have a desired goal when approaching your account structure --> it changes how an account is structured
quicky recap
1. Competition is GOOD
2. Must have High AOV or A-LTV
3. Great Unique Product Identifier
4. Pick Your Goal
