My first computer felt very intimate to me like a part of my own body.
Now with my smart watch, phone, tablet, laptop, and desktop, I feel to various degrees at home on all of them. My digital self has become a ship of Theseus where devices get swapped out one by one, and I barely even notice.
I recently got a new phone after having backed up the old one. With a quick restore, my new phone became my old phone.
All my apps were where I'd left them. Everything about the device was new and yet nothing had changed.
Welcome to the new phone. As much a part of me as the old phone.
