how do you break down big niches like travel? this is how I do it
- there’s unlimited travel keywords
- 10,000s about travel in Europe
- 1,000s about France
- 100s about Paris
- 10 abt the Eiffel Tower
start with 10 articles on Eiffel Twr, then the Louvre, l’arc de triomphe etc
after you’ve covered 10 of these different landmarks, you’re well on your way to creating a blog about Paris
You’re also showing Google that you’re specialising in one topic, as opposed to writing about random unrelated stuff
Makes internal linking much much easier too! 🤓
You can apply this to pretty much any niche - start building small clusters about a specific subtopic and covering it in full
Then, slowly expand out from there into other related subtopics under the same umbrella
From French Bulldog diet, to exercise, to health issues & more!
Worth noting you should consider the name of your website beforehand
My advice? Stay broad at a higher level in case you want to expand
Techblog(.)com can write about ANYTHING tech related
GoogleNestWifi(.)com will look daft if you eventually expand your site beyond Nests
So to recap, IMO you should;
- start by focusing on one subtopic, cover it in full then expand into another
- Use internal linking between related articles (it’s super important, especially if you’re not building links)
- pick a broad domain name so you can scale easily 📈
