Stop creating narratives based on results - it's the death of the game. I've already seen too many takes based on RMA's win - those who criticize MCI would appreciate their 2nd half performance if this game is 1-1. That's the problem, thinking in situations instead of processes.
From an analytical perspective you must look the processes, how it affected the game's dynamics and how it impacted the result, obviously. But the order is to start from the process and reach to a result, and not the opposite.
About this game - now if you look at the data and everything, it's clear that RMA is overperforming by a lot. Yes in overall they are not a good team, e.g. they don't have the same attacking action 2x, although their pressing is really good. Not balanced like LIV or MCI.
For sure, the staff behind the team must be exceptional, that's clear from how they are prepared physically, psychologically, technically - they have some simple principles in possession and that mixed with the individual quality they have is enough to survive games like this.
Although from a tactical perspective, this team is not able to control a game against a big team, which you see is a key aspect in a dominant team. Btw, PSG have the same issue. The moments they have a chance is if they create chaos by forcing opponents into unstructured phases.
If you look at the game v CHE in the 2nd leg CHE completely dominated them with the 3412 & inverted WB strategy. MCI dominated in 1st leg with their usual 235 & overloading far-post for crosses. This domination you couldn't see at all by RMA in their 6 knockout games.
Therefore if you put together all these aspects it's obvious that this set of results is not sustainable on a long run. Until sports are sports the momentum of finding a goal in the last minutes will always have an effect on the results, but not on the processes.
